ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Voting in general shall be based upon the candidate’s record, ability, integrity, sportsmanship, character and contribution to the game. There are three categories for admission:
- Player
- Builder/Administrator
- Early Influence/Ambassador
PLAYER:
- Each player nominated for eligibility MUST meet each of the following requirements:
- Have been an active competitor for a minimum period of 25 years and be retired from active competition at the primary level of their most significant achievements for not less than 3 years.
- Has competed, representing their Province or Canada, and achieved at least one of the following positions:
- World Professional Championship – winner, finalist, semi-finalist, quarter-finalist
- World Amateur Championship – winner, finalist, semi-finalist, quarter-finalist
- World Team Cup – member of winning or finalist team
- World Doubles Championship – member of winning or finalist team
- World Mixed Pairs Championship – member of winning or finalist team
- World Mixed Pairs Championship – member of winning or finalist team
- World Mixed Pairs Championship – member of winning or finalist team
- World Ranking Tournament – winner, finalist, semi-finalist, quarter-finalist
- World Professional Events Non-ranking – winner, finalist, semi-finalist
- International Open Events – winner, finalist, semi-finalist
- World Professional Rankings – top 8 for a minimum period of one year, top 16 for a minimum period of 2 years, top 32 for a minimum period of 3 years, and top 128 for a minimum period of 5 years
- Holders of five or more Canadian National Snooker Titles (amateur, professional, Under-21 or Senior) may also be considered provided requirements a, d and e are also met.
- A reputation for maintaining a high standard of integrity and sportsmanship.
- Contributed to the advancement and awareness of Canadian snooker outside an individual’s self-interest.
BUILDER/ADMINSTRATOR:
To qualify for consideration in this category, an individual must have made a significant contribution to snooker in a non-playing capacity by demonstrating a substantial, enduring and positive influence on the development, advancement and administration of snooker within Canada and/or at an international level, whether amateur or professional. Eligible candidates must be at least 50 years old and have demonstrated their significant contribution for a minimum of 25 years.
EARLY INFLUENCE/AMBASSADOR:
To qualify for consideration in this category, an individual must have left a distinct mark on snooker in a playing or non-playing capacity. Eligible candidates must also have demonstrated a substantial, enduring and positive influence on snooker within Canada and at an International Level whether amateur or professional. Eligible players in this category are those whose most primary achievements are prior to 1980. Eligible ambassadors must have a recognizable profile in the public domain such that it has served to promote the development, advancement, and public awareness of Canadian snooker at both national and international levels for a significant period of time. Candidates must be at least 50 years old and have demonstrated their significant contribution for a minimum of 25 years.
